Priest Valley Vicars to Tour Deep South
Date: May 9, 1992
This article was taken from May 9, 1992 edition of The Rugby Sideline, a quarterly newsletter that was distributed by mail to the local rugby community by the KRFC Executive quarterly in 1992/93.
The citizens of Louisiana trembled briefly today, as it was announced that the Priest Valley Vicars would be touring New orleans in March of 1993. The Over-40 team affiliated with the Kelowna Rugby Football Club organized a very successful tour of Texas in 1990 and are threatening to again darken the doors of America with their unique style of touring. This colorful team, featuring 13 wingers and a pair of reluctant props, are putting the call out for interested travellers to accompany them on their southern tour.
The Vicars are coming off a 5 win, 3 loss season in the provincial Over-40 league. The team is comprised of players from Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, Kamloops, and other BC interior cities. They feature surprisingly few players with criminal records, although it is rumored that the flight to New Orleans will intentionally avoid a stop-over in Salt Lake City, for some unknown reason.
Interested in joining this southern US tour for four games of rugby between March 13 and 19 of 1993? Travellers are welcome to come and play or join the touring 7-a-side touch rugby team who will attend all socials and challenge anyone to a game of sillybuggers outside. Interested?
