Curry Shows Promise in International League Debut

Date: July 26, 2012

Author: Paul O'Keefe

Kelowna Crows player Jared Curry had a successful International Rugby League debut for Canada Wolverines last weekend and played well with few opportunities. Canada defeated Jamaica 18 -12 in a close game at Lamport Stadium in Toronto in front of a record breaking 4,630 spectators. It was a high pressure game with both teams tackling strongly forcing lots of errors, which stopped the ball getting out to Jared Curry on the wing. He went looking for the ball later in the game and made several impressive runs. Canada scored four tries to two to start the International season with a victory.

Curry will play on Sunday for the BC Origin Representative team in Vancouver against an Exiles Squad that contains players from around the world. This will be another new experience in his career and will assist him in learning how to play in high pressure games. The BC Bulldogs Representative team will be selected next week so its important for all players to show their skills. BC Bulldogs will play in Kelowna on Saturday August 18th in what is shaping up as a huge game against Utah Avalanche from the USA. The Apple Bowl is the venue and kick off is at 3 pm and local product Jared Curry will get his opportunity to play in front of a big crowd in his home town.
