Crows Men in BC Semi-Final This Weekend

Date: April 22, 2016

This weekend is the last chance for local rugby enthusiasts to see some excellent men's playoff rugby.  The Kelowna Crows Men, fresh off their quarter-final 72 - 3 win over Kamloops, take on a gritty SFU/Highland team.  SFU defeated Capilano 3rds 20 - 6 last weekend to stay alive in the playoffs.  The semi-final will be played at the Parkinson P10 field in Kelowna at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 23.

Kelowna has had a stellar season, winning all 8 of their league games.  The team scored 464 points, averaging 58 points per game, while allowing only 40 against (a 5 points per game average).  SFU and the Crows have not played this year.  SFU placed 2nd in their pool on the back of a 5 win, 3 loss record.

The other BC 3rd Div. A semi-final features the 6 - 2 Brit Lions against the 7 - 1 Westshore (formerly Velox) side from Victoria.  The Crows v Brit Lions game back in March saw the locals winning a tight, hard-fought match 19 - 13.  The BC Rugby 3rd Division A Final will be played on Aprll 30th.

The Crows Women will travel for their semi-final, taking on the first-place 12 - 1 United squad.  The fourth place Crows earned their playoff spot with a winning 8 - 6 season in 2016.  United has won the two previous matches 20 - 0 and 54 - 5.  It will be a tough match for the locals but, as they say, "On any given day...."

Good luck to both Crows teams this weekend!
