2018 Projects

In order to achieve our goals for 2020, CORE has identified 18 key project areas for 2018. They are listed below. Please contact the project leaders if you are interested in supporting any or all of these goals.

CORE Development Team

2020 Goal – Increase the number of active rugby players in the region to 1,500.

2018 Project A: Crows Mini-Rugby

Key Goal: At least 150 4 - 8 year old mini-rugby players in the spring mini program.

2018 Project B: Grade 4/5/6 Mixed Elementary Touch Rugby League

Key Goal: At least 300 players on 16 local elementary teams (mixed).

2018 Project C : Community Youth Touch Sevens League

Key Goal: At least 100 players on 8 teams. (mixed)

2018 Project D: Junior Rugby XVs

Key Goal: At least 5 Central Okanagan junior teams participate in the junior boys XVs league.

2018 Project E: Rugby Sevens Leagues - Senior

Key Goal: At least 60 players on 5 teams in this spring boys sevens league.

2018 Project F: Adult Touch Rugby League

Key Goal: At least 200 players on 16 teams in this summer league. (mixed)

CORE Excellence Team

2020 Goal – Increase the number of rep-level rugby athletes in the region to 15.

2018 Project G: Central Okanagan Rugby Development (CORD) Academy

Key Goal: At least 60 players participate in the U12/U14/U16 CORD Academies. Key Goal: U16 and U18 CORD Academies are integrated with the BC Rugby Academies.

Key Goal: A PRC Leader coordinateS the U14, U16, and U18 Thompson-Okanagan PRC programs.

2018 Project I: Coach/Referee Development

Key Goal: A clear infrastructure for coach/referee recruitment and development is established and introduced.

CORE Sustainability Team

2020 Goal – A diversified rugby financing infrastructure meets local rugby needs.
2020 Goal - $100,000 in the CORE Endowment Fund. (ACHIEVED)

2018 Project J: Expanded Individual Memberships

Key Goal: At least 100 individual memberships support student financial aid.

2018 Project K: Expanded Business Memberships

Key Goal: At least 17 local businesses become CORE business members.

2018 Project L: Corporate Sponsorships

Key Goal: Three sponsors for the 'Community Youth Touch Sevens' program.

2018 Project M: Player Development Fund

Key Goal: A charitable donors fund in support of Central Okanagan player development is established.

CORE Community Team

2020 Goal – More than 200 active Central Okanagan Rugby Enthusiast members.

2018 Project N: Player/Enthusiast Registration Database

Key Goal: An up-to-date database of all active players and enthusiasts in the Central Okanagan is in place.
Key Goal: An up-to-date database of the CORE Voting Members is in place.

2018 Project O: CORE Bursaries

Key Goal: $2,500 for five COBSS bursaries to local graduating rugby players who contribute to the game.
Key Goal: $1,000 for the Courtney Wall Bursary, awarded to a top graduating rugby player.

2018 Project P: CORE Support for Players with Financial Need

Key Goal: $3,500 to local youth players needing financial assistance to play rugby.

2018 Project Q: Rugby Centre of Excellence

Key Goal: The City strikes an agreement with CORE to develop a Rugby Centre in Kelowna.
Key Goal: A RCE Steering Committee completes City requirements for the agreement.
