CORE to Host 2018 Club Sevens Series Stop at COG

BC Rugby has announced the Club Sevens Series for the summer of 2018. The first stop has already been determined - it will be at the Center of Gravity event in Kelowna on July 28 and 29. Two or three other tournaments will be sanctioned in August and a provincial club champion will be determined.

At the Centre of Gravity Sevens, three 8-team tournaments will be featured - Elite Men's, Elite Women's, and Open Men's. The Central Okanagan Rugby Enthusiasts (CORE) volunteers will coordinate the tournament. Games will run at City Park all day on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, with tournament finals played late Sunday afternoon.

"We see sevens rugby and the Center of Gravity as natural partners," said Doug Manning, CORE President. "Both cater to men and women in their 20's and 30's and both offer exciting athletic performances by top-quality athletes. We think clubs from around the province will be excited about the competition and the extras associated with registering for the Center of Gravity Sevens."

Yes, the Center of Gravity offers a lot of "extras". There's the Wu-Tang Clan and a bunch of other top-quality musicians performing at the 2018 event. There are other feature sports like basketball, freestyle motocross, BMX, and skateboarding. There's 25,000+ people enjoying the Village and various after-parties. All of it is set next to beautiful Okanagan Lake in the 30 degree heat of the Okanagan summer.

Registration information regarding the Center of Gravity Sevens will be distributed in the next couple of weeks. Men's and women's sevens teams can contact Doug Manning (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) for further information.
