Finally, after five months of road games, snow outs, and conceded games due to lack of front row players, the Crows took the pitch at Parkinson Rec. field for a Saturday home game - hosting the 4th place Surrey Beavers.
Rust seemed to be the stumbling block for the Crows and fitness issues were evident. However, the first 25 minutes of the game saw the Crows forwards camped on the Beavers goal line. Captain Christian Hill led a barrage of crashes that continuously came up short. Having weathered the storm, Surrey replied with 3 tries and 2 conversions for a 19-0 half time lead.
In the second half the game, the Crows found their legs. A fan-friendly final 40 minutes saw the teams trading scores. Christian Hill and Brady Earl Smith both scored for the Crows. The final score was 29-10 for the Beavers.
The forward play was spot on, with a revitalized front row thanks to newcomer Miro Adamov. Miro took home man of the match honours. The Beavers did a good job shutting down the local's usually dominant backs.
Next Saturday the Crows will host first place Langley Rugby Club at Parkinson field - 1 pm start. Local rugby enthusiasts are welcome to enjoy an afternoon of competitive 2nd div. BC rugby.
