Kelowna to Host Major Rugby Championship

Kelowna will host the Western Canada U16 Rugby XVs Championships for the next three years. The top U16 male and female athletes from the four western provinces will compete in Kelowna each summer in 2018, 2019, and 2020. This year's competition will be held at Parkinson Rec Centre from July 26 - 29.

Eight boy's teams and six girl's teams from Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, and British Columbia will compete over the four-day tournament at the Parkinson Rec Centre. 330+ of the best U16 players in Canada will enjoy the Okanagan sunshine while playing their favorite game.

BC Rugby staff will work with local volunteers to run the tournament.

"These athletes include many of Canada's future rugby stars," said one of the local volunteers. "Local fans will be very surprised by the high quality of play."

This tournament brings more than 500 players, parents, coaches, referees, and rugby enthusiasts to Kelowna. Local rugby fans are encouraged to mark these dates on their calendars and plan to attend this national event.
