Ten rugby coaches, most of them from the Okanagan, completed the World Rugby Level 2 coaching training on Friday and Saturday of last week. BC Rugby coaching specialists Conan Cooper and Darcy Patterson delivered the training, which included the coaching process, designing a practice, coaching core rugby skills, and functional role analysis and selection.

The following coaches completed the training:

Jen Burnett - Chute Lake Elementary Touch Rugby
Marshall Corbett -Youth XVs and Sevens Coordinator
Storm Fischer - PRC U14 Assistant Coach
Kevin Low - Mount Boucherie Senior Girls
Brad Martin - Penticton Secondary and Princess Margaret Secondary
JP Oughtred- Okanagan Mission secondary Senior Boys
Cam Pierce - Kelowna Crows
Mark Rogers - Dawson Creek Rugby
Scott Stewart - Grand Forks Rugby
Derek Worrall - Community Touch Sevens, Elementary Touch Sevens

This is a very positive development for local rugby. There is a troublesome shortage of coaches and referees in the Okanagan. This moves us forward in our quest to improve the number of quality Okanagan coaches. Congratulations to these 10 whose 18 hours of training makes us all a little bit better.
